Acoustic Arts - Outdoor Musical Instruments
Acoustic Arts was set up in 1990 to promote outdoor learning, play and environmental awareness through music and art. In addition to supplying a range of outdoor musical instruments and bespoke installations, the Bristol-based group coordinates educational and community music projects for young people of all abilities.
Playground Percussion
Learning outside the classroom could not be more fun with this unique range of self-install outdoor musical instruments developed specifically for younger and less able children. Designed to maximise access and interaction, the Playground Percussion range combines the precision tuning and sound quality of conventional musical instruments with the durability of the best playground equipment. A fully revised manual includes links to the National Curriculum Foundation Stage with a pack containing over 100 outdoor musical games and activities.
New for 2009
The Playground Percussion outdoor musical instruments come with a robust, machined timber frame. An alternative option, supplied and installed by Touchwood Enterprises, uses natural timbers sourced from sustainably managed woodlands in the Forest of Avon. The organic shapes of the Touchwood timber frames perfectly complement the regular forms of the instruments, producing a highly sculptural, bespoke structure. Please contact us for further details.
Installations
Acoustic Arts have created outdoor musical sculptures for festivals and carnivals throughout Europe.
Their interactive Music Maze features musical instruments built exclusively from recycled materials. This portable musical playground has toured schools and events countrywide and has appeared on BBC Children’s TV. Acoustic Arts’ permanent designs include an award-winning outdoor Sound Trail for blind children in Gloucestershire.
