Acoustic Arts - Outdoor Musical Instruments
John Walls, BA (Hons) PGCE, has been working as a musician, lecturer and specialist music teacher since 1987. He has studied classical guitar and drumming, and has sung in several choirs as well as performing with his own groups.
John has travelled to Africa, Asia and the Americas, researching folk music traditions and assembling a collection of hand-made musical instruments and soundmakers.
Inspired by the skill and resourcefulness of the musicians and craftsmen he encountered, John set up Acoustic Arts Community Music as a not-for-profit organisation to pass on some of the techniques and ideas.
John has recently recorded several children’s CDs for the charity, SENSE, and has been involved in making a number of educational T.V. and radio programmes, including the BBC Children’s show, Science Zone.
